Steven Madsen was born in Hillsboro ND as the youngest son of Mark and Vicki Madsen. He attended school in Hillsboro with his brothers Ricky and Kelly. He graduate in 1992. Steve joined the North Dakota National Guard and became a medic while attending the University of North Dakota. Later, the Guard sent him to St. Phillips College in San Antonio, TX where he earned a degree in Nursing. Steve served in the Guard for 12 years.
In 2000, Steve married Sara McElroy. They live on the north side of Fargo with their daughter, Krynn, who was born in 2007. He enjoys playing poker and going to movies. His passion for studying history and arguing economics led him to work for Treasure Island Coins for 8 years where he was retail manager. Steve is always promoting creative projects on the side. He has worked full time or part-time in the charitable gaming industry for more than twenty years. He has co-hosted a radio show called The Fan Poker Show with a friend, Jack Seaman. He creates pull-tab games with FPN Gaming in Fargo and works with local charitable gaming associations to organize their annual poker tournaments.
His parents, Mark and Vicki, moved from Hillsboro to Fargo in 2014 to live close to their granddaughter. In May of 2018, Steve’s father passed away. This has stirred a new creative passion in Steve to capture life stories on film. Losing his Dad made him realized that he had missed a chance to capture his father’s story for his daughter’s future family. In 2018, Steve quit his full time job to start a new business with his life-long friend, Jason Bedard. They launched My Documemory Productions where they will capture beautiful stories on film and share them with generations of people to come.
